etrailer Trailer Hubs and Drums - Pre Greased Hub with Integrated Drum - AKHD-555-35-K Review

Jeff: Hello, everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're going to take a look at the 10-inch pre-greased trailer hub and drum assembly for 3,500-pound axles and has the 5.0 on 5.5-inch bolt pattern. Now, this trailer hub and drum assembly will provide the surface area for your brake shoes or your brake magnet to grip when the brakes are activated. It is compatible with electric brakes. So this is where your magnet would grip. Also, hydraulic drum brakes, this is where your shoes would grip. This is a pre-greased hub and drum assembly.

It's very easy to install. There's no need to pack the bearings with grease. It will come already greased with lithium complex multipurpose grease. You can see they put a plug in the back.Does include everything shown here. It includes the pre-grease inner and outer bearings.

The inner bearing part number is 68149. The outer bearing part number is L44649. Does include the bearing races that the bearings sit in. Does include the installed grease seal in the rear here. That's part number 58846.

Includes the grease cap and also the five 0.5-inch by 20 size lug nuts. Now, this is a sturdy iron construction. They use a zinc-enriched paint on the drum to add durability, and the wheel studs are a zinc finish to resist corrosion. This is QAI and CSA certified.A few specs again. It's designed to fit a 3,500-pound trailer axle with the number 84 spindles. It is compatible with standard axles from most manufacturers, including Dexter, Lippert, and Alco 00:00:01:34.

Now, the actual drum dimension. We measure that. The diameter on the inside is right at 10 inches. The width on where the brake shoes would go is 2.5 inches wide. It is designed to work with 10-inch brake assemblies. Bolt pattern we mentioned is a 5.0 on 5.5-inch bolt pattern. And the wheel stud size is a half an inch, and it uses these 0.5-in by 20 size lug nuts to hold your wheel to it. Weight capacity on this is 1,750 pounds. When this is used with one on the other side of the axle, it'll meet the 3,500 pound axle rating. But that should do it for the review on the 10-inch pre-greased trailer hub and drum assembly for 3,500-pound axles and has the 5.0 on 5.5-inch bolt pattern.
