Will Rear Fascial On 2022 VW Atlas need Trimmed When Installing Draw-Tite Receiver With Factory Tow
Updated 02/27/2023 | Published 02/24/2023 >
Question:
Im looking at the Draw Tite 76176 for a 2022 VW Atlas. When I look at the QandA on your website, it says no need to cut bumper but when I looked around at nearby dealers to install it, they have all told me that this hitch will require the bumper to be cut. My next question is that I currently have a factory install hitch which doesnt support a WDH. the reason I want to install this new hitch is to be able to use a WDH and the higher tongue Weight. Do you recommend I replace the current hitch or should I install it under the current Factory installed hitch? I have seen people do both. thanks

With the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # 76176 we have never test fit this on a 2022 Volkswagen Atlas in our shop with a factory receiver. It appears on models with the factory receiver it has a different fascia insert so we have no way of knowing if you will have to trim the fascia when installing this receiver. If the receiver will fit without having to modify the factory receiver you should leave it in place. Do note that while this receiver does have a higher tongue weight rating you should never exceed the specified weight limits of your Atlas. Be sure to verify your owners manual to see axle weight ratings as well as GVWR and maximum towing capacities.
