Steps Open When Door is Closed on Kwikee Series 40 Electric RV Steps

My Kwikee 40 series steeps on my 2000 Rexhall Aerbus stopped working.I replaced the motor and the control board but now they retract when I open the door and extend when I close the door. They dont always work sometimes I have to tap on the doorframe near the switch to get them to open/close. Any suggestions?

It could be that you got the incorrect control board or it was installed incorrectly but my guess is a problem with the door switch. The correct control board just to confirm is the Replacement Control Unit for Kwikee Electric RV Steps part # LC379146. I have attached for you below a list of the door switches. If you can send me a photo of yours, I'd be glad to match this up with a replacement but these aren't specific to the step so there would be no way for us to know what you have exactly. The Replacement Magnetic Door Sensor for Kwikee Electric RV Steps part # LC375385 is an example of a door switch.
