I couldn't be more pleased with the service I received about my Kwikee control unit! Had to wait on hold longer than anticipated but well worth the wait. The original unit failed so I bought a cheap one off amazon. Followed the instructions to the T, plugged it in and it immediately started smoking. I then followed the testing procedure and found no problems. Called Etrailer after an internet search and spoke with Rachel. This woman was beyond patient with being sure I ordered the proper unit. Paid the extra couple dollars, out of character for me, and had it within 2 days. Retested all the circuits and determined they were good. Installed the new control box double checking everything. Before plugging in the 4 position connector I said aloud " here goes $[XX] up in smoke again". Much to my surprise the smoke stayed in the unit and the auto step worked as it should. The boss, wife, is just slightly less thrilled than I am! I can't thank Rachel enough for her patience in making my problem a personal challenge to get me stepping up and down as our travel season begins. Long winded but again thank you Rachel!!

I'm so glad that this control unit stayed smoke free for you, Rick! That doesn't sound like a pleasant experience to have to go thru. I'll also make sure Rachel sees this and get a high-five from ya!

Talked to Kimberly and she was able to tell me which control unit I need for my motorhome. The unity arrived in a timely matter it was very easy to install. The only difference in operation is in the switch on the wall you put it in the on position to keep stairs locked open where before you kept the switch in the off position to keep stairs locked open

The control board device continues to work as it should. It was a replacement for the original that failed.

by:

I had know idea which controller I needed to repair the electric steps on our Motorhome. Sheryl H at etrailer was a tremendous help and did a bunch of research to make sure the right part would be shipped. That was on a Friday. Believe it or not USPS delivered the new controller on Monday. I was able to install and swap the wires from the old controller to the new one and it fit perfectly. And it also fixed the problem I had with the steps.
Thank you Sheryl H and etrailer!

It’s working great! I have bought and used many items from etrailer and every item has fit and worked perfectly. The how to You Tube video’s have given me the confidence to tackle anything from Motorhome suspensions to installing all items necessary to tow my Colorado behind it. I would highly recommend etrailer for any towing needs.

by:

worked fine as replacement for failed control unit. Easy to install except original motor supply was hard wired to the original control unit. Had to splice in a new connector between the CU and the original motor leads. Really no problem, and I'm completely satisfied with the new unit. Step works perfectly again!

This control unit has been working for a year now and I am still completely happy with this replacement part.

by:

I have grown to use etrailer.com as my first source in finding the hard to find parts for my RV and also for towing my Jeep Wrangler. My Kwikee step system has always been unreliable, and was a constant item on my annual RV servicing. I was able to identify the required components, make a quick and efficient repair and my steps are working great after a year. Also, the videos are a fantastic help.

by:

was in need of parts to repair my RV steps, called and talked to Christine. She found my needed parts and was able to ship the parts overnight meeting my needs for repairs and leaving on vacation as planned.

The item arrived when it said it was going to and worked like a charm. My steps now glide as they are supposed to. Thank you Tayler.

by:

After replacing the step slides three times because of making them run in and out by a reversing switch and forgetting to bring them back in and hitting something and bending the slides I am so glad we found your replacement automatic control box. Now we don't have to worry if they have come in when the door closes. Thank you for offering such a great part. I highly recommend this part.

by:

We recently had to troubleshoot a step that wouldn't retract. I didn't have the parts, at the time, so I had to disconnect the linkage and zip tie the step into the retracted position. Had I had the parts...I would have been able to fix the steps.

Part numbers can be confusing. LCI publishes a guide to help...

Now we carry spare parts...fuses, motor, and this controller...plus a couple of wire harnesses to make the next event...a non-event. The parts are easy to change out...and you'll be back to normal in no time.

by:

My RV steps were not extending and my mechanic said the modular was not sending a signal to the motor. He went onto his phone and within 5 minutes or so had the modular part ordered from trailer. It was very easy. Then in less than a week we had the correct part delivrredto the house. Mike crawled under the steps and within a few minutes replaced the part and my steps were again working.

by:

Well packaged and arrived as expected. Installation took longer than expected due to corrosion on screws of old unit.

If your Kwikee Steps # LC3711363 all of a sudden aren't operating correctly on a nearly brand new motorhome then my first recommendation would be to check the wiring for any damage or loose connections and then test the ground and the 12v power wire to ensure it's actually getting a full 12 volts. As for the switch, you'll want to have it on to keep the steps out when the door is closed. If the override switch is off then the steps will go back to normal mode, which means the steps will...

  • Retracting Kwikee Steps On 2016 Newmar Bay Star Sport
Hey Dave. So what you described is actually how these steps are designed to work. Once you're parked at a campsite, the assumption is that you'd typically leave the steps out when the door is open and the ignition is off, so the opposite would be true once you're ready to head out and the steps need to come in (door closed and ignition on). Is everything else working correctly? Steps remaining retracted once out, etc?
