Question:
I plan on installing a trailer hitch on 2023 sportage HEV and wondering if rear bumper needs to be notched with the e38KR or the C94WR hitches

Helpful Expert Reply:
When installing the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e38KR onto your 2023 Kia Sportage HEV the rear bumper will not need to be notched. You will need to lower the exhaust for ease of installation. The Underbody panel(s) and or fascia must be temporarily loosened or removed and you may have trim to reattach the panel or the fascia. I recommend the etrailer hitch over the Curt hitch # C94WR because the etrailer hitch has a matte black finish that will make scratches and scuffs that you receive while towing less visible. The Curt hitch has a gloss black finish and it will be more visible. The etrailer hitch has a bolt-on installation with no welding required.
If you plan on towing a trailer you will also need the Curt T-Connector # C99DR and the Curt Towing Starter Kit # C45554. I linked an installation video below on the etrailer hitch being installed onto a 2022 Kia Sportage the installation process will be the same for your 2023 Kia Sportage.
