Question:

Do I need a stabilizing strap on my 2014 Forester if I purchase the class III hitch? If yes, what would I connect the strap to, since I have a rear window deflector?

Curt recommends using the stabilization strap, # 18050, or something similar, for all non-trailer loads with trailer hitch # C13144. There is no specific place the strap has to go. Ideally you will want the strap end that is attached to the vehicle to be higher than where it is attached to the bike rack.

Because you have that rear spoiler the hook will most likely not be able to fit right at the top of the hatch on your 2014 Subaru Forester. To get around that you can use Malone hood loops # MPG308. Close the cylinder end in the hatch and use the loop to connect to the stabilization strap. I have linked a video review of the quick loops for you.
