Building a hay wagon style people mover. Putting 4 leaf springs, wagon will weigh about 2500 pounds, 20 people about 3500, so 4, 1750 springs. Question is advantage/disadvantage to 3 leaf vs 4 leaf?

In general the differences aren't huge, but some people prefer spring packs with greater amounts of leaves as that in the unlikely event one of them break there are several others to back it up. But the thinner the leaves (to create a multi-leaf spring pack) the more likely one would be to break.
The other thing to consider is that a thicker spring pack would raise the trailer up a bit if the spring was mounted above the axle. The most common spring sizes we offer for 3,500 lb axles are part # SP-212275 which is 25-1/8 and # e97SR which is 27 inch.
