Can I use the echo brake controller on a truck that has air brakes

I recommend using the Hayes Air Actuated Trailer Brake Controller # HA100400C on your truck with air brakes. This will ensure you do not have any false braking with the trailer. The Curt Echo Trailer Brake Controller # C51180 works off of the tail lights going to your trailer to determine when the brakes are being used. As some trucks with air brakes have an exhaust brake which can also activate the brake lights using the Echo in that situation would cause the trailer to try and stop while the exhaust brake is trying to maintain a speed going down hill.
