Is a replacement pad available that mounts to the rack of a 2022 Outback available, instead of purchasing a new unit?

You will likely need to get a new rack like the Thule Hull-A-Port Kayak Roof Rack # TH834. The only parts available for the Thule 835 which was discontinued in 2003 are listed below.

Replacement Base Pad # TH96JV
Replacement Bottom Mounting Clamp # 753-2854
Replacement Rubber Pads # 853-5293

For you older version of the Thule Hullavator 897XT the only way to attach it to the top channel of aero bars is with the part #TH56JV. The #TH24BH is the channel adapter for the current version of the Hullavator part #TH898.

The shims you referenced are actually for the older version of the Thule Hullavator but for your #TH898 the shims part #TH56JV are not for your version and aren't needed actually.
