I am purchasing a 2026 Toyota Rav4 Limited. Could you tell me what I should purchase for a hitch and wiring harness. Thanks!

Hey Steve, welcome back! I'd love to help you pick out a hitch and wiring kit for your new 26 RAV4. The Curt part # C34FR62ZY that you referenced is the hitch you want. This is a mostly hidden hitch that is very easy to install and has great towing capacities.

Then for trailer wiring right now we only have universal options like the Curt # C59236 but once installed this will work really great and provide you with a reliable 4-way trailer connection? What are you planning on towing?

Mine is a 2026 RAV4 Limited with the “foot kick” hands-free rear cargo opening feature. Will your hitch still be compatible with that system? Also, is your harness more difficult to install than other options? For my first haul, I’ll be towing a U-Haul 5x8 trailer with a motorcycle weighing about 500 lbs. Thanks

@SteveS This hitch will still allow the hands free liftgate to function but you would need to kick to the side of the hitch opening. A universal install harness take a little more time but it's not super difficult.

The Toyota hitch and wiring is 4-pin only. A plug and play solution is to get a Toyota Converter and a MECMO wiring harness. After you plug the Convertor to an existing plug inside the vehicle, you will plug the MECMO harness to an existing plug under the rear bumper. That will give you 4-pin functionality. MECMO 4 Way Trailer Wiring Harness 56083 Tow Hitch Converter Toyota Part Number: PK5D1-42T20 Once I installed the four pin harness to my RAV4, I added further wiring to be able to tow a trailer with eBrakes. That required a 7-pin connector.
