Recommended Electric Over Hydraulic Conversion Kit for a Tandem Axle Boat Trailer w/ Disc Brakes

Question:

Could you help me determine which Hydrastar electric over hydraulic conversion kit is the correct one? I have a 2016 Ford F-350 and a tandem axle boat trailer that has existing 4 wheel disk brakes with surge coupler. Boat weighs 8k lbs

To convert your tandem axle boat trailer to a electric over hydraulic braking system, I recommend the Hydrastar Vented Marine Electric Over Hydraulic Actuator for Disc Brakes item # HS481-8067. This kit includes the required breakaway kit and the 7-way connector. It has 1,600 PSI capacity and is rated specifically for disc brakes.

If you do not want the 7-Way you will want the Hydrastar Electric Over Hydraulic Actuator Kit for Disc Brakes item # HBA16-252-82.

I've attached an article to help with this conversion below. If you want to run new brake lines, I recommend the Hydrastar hydraulic Brake Line Kit item # HS496-252 for your tandem axle application.

If you need a brake controller that is compatible with electric over hydraulic brakes for your 2016 Ford F-350, you will want the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller item # 90195 and the Tekonsha Plug-In Wiring Adapter for Electric Brake Controllers item # 3034-P if you truck came with the 7-way connector from the factory. The Prodigy P3 works with electric over hydraulic brake set ups.
