Can this axel be used as a second axel. That is to say make the single axel trailer a duel ? Thanks

Expert Reply:
You can convert a single axle trailer to a tandem axle but it's more extensive than just putting the extra axle on there. The current axle does need to be repositioned for proper tongue weight. You will also need to cut off the current hangers since the hanger spacing will not be the same.
The Trailer Axle with Idler Hubs # e82GR has a weight capacity of 2,000 pounds and has a hub bolt pattern of 5 on 4-1/2 inches. Its hub face to hub face length is 60 inches and the spring center to spring center is 48 inches.
