Question:
I am wanting to change out my current axle on a 5x8 that I use for a kayak trailer. I back the trailer in the water currently and just have bearing buddies on the fronts. Will that hurt my bearing doing so with current axle? If so will this axle take care of that worry and problem? Thank you for your time

Expert Reply:
The Bearing Buddy Bearing Protectors are great for boat trailers as they offer both easy greasing and better protection from water entering the hub. Therefore, I recommend these over easy lube spindles which will do a better job of greasing the bearings but won't be as good at keeping out water. Therefore, I recommend the Dexter Trailer Axle with Idler Hubs part # 20545I-ST-60-15 with Bearing Buddy Bearing Protectors part # BB84SR over the Trailer Axle with Idler Hubs part # e84YR.
Please note, you cannot use Bearing Buddy Bearing Protectors on easy lube spindles.
