How Much Tongue Weight Can I Put on a 2022 Hyundai Tucson

Question:

Have a Hyundai Tucson 2022 with a Class 2 hitch. Can I stack ~10 bags of soil 20lbs each onto this and strap them down, provided the bag size fits? Assuming I can lay 2 bags down next to each other, so two stacks of 5 bags high.

The highest capacity trailer hitch we offer for a 2022 Hyundai Tucson is the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver part # e38KR which has a 525 lb tongue weight capacity. The tongue weight capacity is the weight of the accessory and anything you have loaded onto it like a bike rack and bikes or cargo carrier and cargo. That said, if the vehicle has a lower tongue weight rating then that is the one you need to abide by as the hitch is tested separate of the vehicle.

If you need help finding the vehicle's tongue weigh rating be sure to reference your owner's manual. I don't have any weight capacity info on the factory hitch but if not printed on the beam you'll need to reference your owner's manual for this as well.
