Question:

I currently pull a trailer without brakes so my car is set up for wiring with a 4 pole for that. We are getting a camper with electric drum brakes and need to get the brake controller and what ever else to be able to tow that. I have a 2019 Honda pilot lx without tow package. The trailer has a single axel and electric drum brakes. What is all I need. I would.lime the simplest least expensive set up.

The best and most economical way to add a 7-way to your 2019 Honda Pilot LX is with the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness for Factory Tow Package # 118286. Although you do not have the factory tow package, you still have the ports for this installation. It also comes with the necessary fuses to activate the tow package functions on your vehicle.

For a brake controller, I recommend the Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty Brake Controller # RED24FR. This is a high quality brake controller that uses an an internal 3-axis accelerometer to sense how your vehicle is braking. Since it is proportional, it automatically applies the brakes based on the deceleration of your vehicle.

The main unit installs out of sight with only the control knob visible in the cab of your vehicle. The knob controls the braking power and also acts as the manual override. This means you won't have a brake controller taking up a lot of space in the vehicle while also having more of an OEM appearance. You will also want the # RED59FR for a plug and play installation.
