Where Does Blue Wire Connect for Bright Way Push-to-Test Trailer Breakaway Kit
Updated 09/05/2022 | Published 09/02/2022 >
Question:
The wires on my plug are white, brown, red, black, yellow, green, and blue. The diagram on the battery box 3802346 shows the function of all the wires except the blue. I want to confirm that the black wire of the break-away goes to the black of the plug wire, and that the red from the battery box goes to the red of the plug wire, as indicated on the battery box. The tutorial has different wiring on the plug, so it does not fit my application. What is the function of the blue wire?

Expert Reply:
The blue wire from the breakaway battery box for the Bright Way Push-to-Test Trailer Breakaway Kit # 3802346 will connect to the switch for the kit. The switch is that smaller box with the black and blue wiring that tells the breakaway kit when to send full power back to the brakes on your trailer.
The rest of the wiring shown on the diagram is a generalization of what functions are normally on those color wires so you'll have to test what you have on your trailer wiring and just match up function for function.
It sounds like you've already watched an installation video but I'm attaching one anyways so you can hopefully walk through it with this information in mind.
