I have a 2017 holiday rambler vactioner and a 2018 jeep wrangler unlimited that Im looking to flat tow. What parts do I need to purchase to safely tow the vehicle?

Expert Reply:

First you will need the Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit # RM-521453-5 to install on the front of your 2018 Jeep Wrangler JL Unlimited. This will connect to the Roadmaster Nighthawk All Terrain, Non-Binding Tow Bar # RM-676 and attach to your 2017 Holiday Rambler Vacationer. The RoadMaster Nighthawk All Terrain Towing Combo Kit # RM-9284-2 will provide you with the wiring for your tail lights, locks, lube, tow bar cover, and storage bag.

You will also need the Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit # RM-156-25. This will ensure the Demco Stay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Braking System # DM86VR does not drain your battery while towing.

Finally you will need to determine if you will need a Roadmaster High-Low Adapter like the 4" # RM-048-4. This is sometimes needed to ensure the tow bars are within 3" of level from your motorhome to the front of your Jeep. We measured the height of the baseplate above at 17-1/2" from the ground on a Jeep with 285/70R17 tires and no suspension changes. If you need an adapter you will also need some Roadmaster 10" Safety Cable Extensions # RM-910648-10 to ensure the emergency breakaway cable still operates the braking system correctly in the event of a disconnect.
