Question:
Hi Etrailer, Sold 38ft 5th wheel and getting 25ft airstream with GVWR 7300lbs and hitch weight 837lbs Tow vehicle is Chevy 3500 HD Is this the proper hitch setup in this case? I realize the truck is more than capable of towing this unit just trying to get the proper hitch. The truck does not have any lift kit - original height. Concerned if the 2 inch drop with this hitch is enough to tow level. Thanks for the help

The 10K towing/1K tongue Blue Ox SwayPro Weight Distribution # BXW1000 is the perfect capacity to accommodate your towing setup. Just keep in mind that cargo sitting behind the rear axle on your 2014 Chevy Silverado 3500HD will also count as tongue weight so if you were planning on loading up your truck bed we would want to look for something a bit more heavy duty.
To determine the amount of drop you need you'll measure from the ground to the top inside of the receiver on your truck and then from the ground to the bottom of the trailer coupler when it's leveled out on level ground. If your hitch measures about 2" taller than the coupler then that 2" drop is perfect. If you find that you need more than 2" of drop then it sounds like you need the SwayPro # BXW1006 which has the same weight ratings but has a longer shank so it can accommodate a 7" drop.
