Should Air Bag Suspension Be Controlled By Upfitter Switches
Updated 07/22/2022 | Published 07/21/2022 >
Question:
Why cant you run the air through a paddle switch controller with one port and then to air horns with another off one air system? isnt it just a matter of having the air switches placed in the system?

I suppose if you know how to rig that up you could just install a tee but expect the psi to drop when you use the air horn.
The danger in running your air bags to an upfitter switch in the cab though is that you will be "flying blind" when it comes to the psi rating in the air bags. By using a kit like the Air Command II Xtreme Duty Compressor # F2549 you get the in-cab gauge and control switches as well as a port in the system that is designed for the opportunity to fill other items like vehicle tires, recreational equipment, and whatever else you can think of.
I think the best solution would be to use this kit and then tie in that accessory port to your upfitter switch for when you want to use your air horn. This way you have a whole tank of air that you can rely on instead of stealing air from your air bags.
