How To Remove The Head From A Curt A20 5th Wheel Hitch

Question:

I simply cannot remove the base and the head from the bed of the truck. It is to heavy for me to do. I have pulled the large pin under the head but can not separate the head from the base.

In addition to removing the center pivot pin on your Curt A20 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # C16140, you will also need to remove the center lynch pin.

After the center lynch pin is removed, you should be able to lift and remove the head assembly and yoke.

If you're still unable to remove the head, you can also try to loosen the four 14mm leg mounting bolts to free them from the rails.

The head is still quite heavy at 102lbs, so if you find yourself able to free the head from the base and you're struggling to remove it, then you may consider having a friend help you remove it.
