What Axle to Snow Chains Go On a 2008 Honda Pilot

Updated 10/22/2013 | Published 10/19/2013

Question:

hello. im considering the pw2029c chains for my 2008 honda pilot. i wont be using them extensively so i think this will do for me. my questions is in your ad picture you have them on the rear tires. my pilot is the all wheel drive version. arent the front wheels on the pilot the primary drive wheels? im a little confused because i read that the chains have to be on the drive wheels. so, if my pilot only transfers power to the rear when it needs to then wouldnt the front wheels be the ones with the chains? thank you!

You are correct, snow chains should always go on the drive axle of a vehicle. If your 2008 Honda Pilot is mainly front-wheel drive, but then will transfer power to the rear wheels when needed then you would want to have the chains on the front axles.

I attached an FAQ article on snow chains for you to check out also.
