Troubleshooting Curt Brake Control Harness # C51352 Installation in 2007 Chevrolet Silverado Classic

Question:

I have installed a pre wired harness the just plugs into the box under the dash the # c51352 in a 2007 sivlerdao classic , plugged both ends uo mounted controller and nothing is there a fuse or relay that has to be installed as well or what could the problem be?

The Curt Brake Control Harness you reference, part # C51352, is compatible with both time-delayed and proportional brake controllers from Curt and is intended for vehicles with factory tow package wiring. As you noted, the connection port for the vehicle-side connector is under the dash in the electric junction box. The box interior is shown in the photo provided; the correct connection port for the harness (the second one from left on the top row) is highlighted in red.

There are one or two wires under the hood that may still have to be connected to make the tow package functional. The red one is the power wire to the brake controller and connects to the nearest positive post and if present the blue wire sends the brake controller output to the 7-way connector. You may also need to install a 30-amp fuse in the location nearest the positive post to power the brake controller. A second photo provided shows the typical locations for the two wires and connection posts.

If your truck did not come with a factory 7-way trailer connector you will need to splice a length of wire from the blue wire under the hood back to the 7-way to deliver the brake signal to your trailer.
