Troubleshooting Curt Tri-Flex # C51140 Brake Controller Installation in 2006 Chevrolet Silverado

I recently received a Curt Triflex 51140 controller from you with the 2006 Chevy P/U quick plug. The black power wire in the Delphi connector was moved to the right as there was no power in the original position. The controller powered up, but is showing double dots . . trailer connected when there is no trailer connected. Went through the calibration mode anyway. The controller is buzzing when the brake pedal is applied no trailer connected. I have researched all I can find and there is no mention of this in any troubleshooting.

Thank you for your recent purchases from etrailer.com. The quick-connect brake controller adapter harness you purchased along with your brake controller, part # C51352, is the correct one for your 2006 Silverado.

Brake controller installation in your truck, if it did not have a factory tow package, requires you to complete some electrical connections and install fuses in the engine compartment, at the power distribution box. Since you also ordered a 7-way, I will presume your truck did not have a factory 7-way.

First return your adapter harness to its original pin configuration as when you received it. (The vehicle wire in the harneas that connects to the red wire on the controller should carry a signal ONLY when the brake pedal is pressed.) Next, take a look at the linked article which covers the process for installing a brake controller in your vehicle. Once you return the harness to its original pin-out and make the wiring and fuse connections under the hood as described in the article, your controller should behave normally.
