We do have a plug-in adapter for your 2006 GMC Sierra, but the Curt # C51451 that you referenced is a fit for Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra pickups starting in 2014.

For your 2006 Sierra you want the Curt # C51352 instead. This adapter will plug into the junction box beneath your vehicle's dash as is demonstrated in the attached photos.
