Question:

Hello, I have a 2021 Subaru Outback and am getting the Echo brake controller installed. Once I have it all set up on the vehicle and settings on the app if I disconnect the Bluetooth with the Echo still work and brake automatically? I will just lose the option to manually brake through the app correct? Essentially once I have the Echo set up and dont have my phone or disconnect the Bluetooth will my brake controller still function? Thanks for the help!

When it comes to The Curt Echo Brake Controller # C51180 if the Bluetooth gets disconnected or if you lose service, or if your phone battery dies, the last setting you had for the controller would be retained, but you will lose the ability to use the manual override lever. I would try to have to have your phone on you as much as you can though.

The Manual Override Button for Curt Echo Brake Controller # C83HR enables manual activation of trailer brakes if there is problems with your phone.

The app on your smart phone will also alert you in the event that your trailer is overloaded or becomes disconnected during travel.
