Does The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver Require Removal Of Dampening Rod On 2020 Lexus RX 450h F Sport?

Updated 09/27/2024 | Published 06/08/2022

Question:

To my understanding the f sport model has a dampening rod. Will this fit without me taking out the dampening rod? Or do I remove the dampening rod and install this hitch?

The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C13282 will mount to the same holes as the dampening rod on your 2020 Lexus RX 450h. So the dampening rod will be permanently removed from your Lexus. Since the main purpose of the dampening rod is to remove body flex, the receiver will do the same job once it is installed.

For wiring you will need a 4-pole, you will need the Hopkins Plug-In Simple Wiring Harness for Factory Tow Package - 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector# HM11141945 if you have the factory tow package or the ZCI Circuit Protected Vehicle Wiring Harness w/ 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector and Installation Kit # 119250KIT if you do not have the factory tow package. You need the 4-way flat connector for additional lighting. This lighting can be used with the lights installed on most small trailers you may pull. Or Auxiliary Lights # C53201 can be added to hitch mounted accessories such as a bike rack or cargo carrier. The Mounting Bracket # C58001 will secure the connector to the end of the receiver for easier access.

I had the CURT hitch installed this week at a UHAUL dealer ($324 all in) and they removed the 'rear sway bar' (as he called it (but it is no doubt the dampening rod that you mention). I was not sure why it was removed and searched all over the internet and finally saw your answer which is PERFECT. Thanks.
