Tongue Weight Capacity of EcoHitch EH39FR Trailer Hitch on 2022 Tesla Model Y
Published 05/27/2022 >
Question:
The Tesla factory hitch has a vertical load rating of 160lbs and a tongue weight rating of 350lbs. There is no vertical load rating for the EH39FR. I want to carry a dirt bike. Combined weight of carrier and bike is 295lbs. Is this within the EH39FR rating?

I took a look at the owner's manual for your Tesla Model Y, and saw the 160 lb tongue weight rating for accessories and the 350 lb tongue weight rating while towing, which would seem to indicate that the limiting factor would be the Tesla's factory hitch. However, I'd recommend confirming this with Tesla.
The EcoHitch # EH39FR has a 350 lb tongue weight capacity which would be plenty to handle the 295 lb weight you describe. If your Tesla dealer is fine with the approximately 300 lbs of tongue weight your bike and carrier will apply to the rear of the vehicle, the hitch would be a great choice.
