What is Towing Capacity of 2021 Kia Soul

Question:
The 2021 Kia soul Ex can purportedly tow 8900 lbs. See source: carindigo Your hitches for this vehicle only go up to 2000 lbs. Why?

I can assure you that the 2021 Kia Soul does not have an 8,900 lb towing capacity. I pulled up the owners manual of your vehicle and Kia actually does not recommend towing trailers with it. The capacity the vehicle can carry on the interior is actually on 860 lbs. Not all internet sources are reliable unfortunately so I am not sure why that site and a few others are saying the vehicle can tow such a ridiculous amount. To put that in perspective newer 1/2 trucks like F-150's just recently were rated to tow trailers that heavy. A Soul is a much lighter duty vehicle whereas a truck was designed for towing.
Hitches like the Curt part # C67FR were designed to fit the vehicle and made as strong as possible which is why they have higher capacities than the vehicle is rated for.
