What Weight Distribution Hitch with Sway Control do You Recommend for My 29-Foot 7,500 Trailer?

Thanks. You recommended the FA94-00-1000. I looked it and I also looked at the trunnion version of this hitch, FA92-00-1000. I’ve been looking at these for a couple of days. I thought that the round bar {FA94) was less expensive but now the FA92 trunnion model is less. Of these two hitches, which is the better one?

For your 7,500 pound camper with a tongue weight of 500 pounds, the 500 pounds is most likely the dry weight. With that being said, you most likely have a loaded tongue weight of around 750 - 1,000 pounds. This weight is important to determine the correct firmness of the setup.

With that factor in mind, I recommend the Fastway e2 Weight Distribution w/ 2-Point Sway Control - Round - 10,000 lbs GTW, 1,000 lbs TW # FA94-00-1000. The e2 comes with side-to-side sway control to dramatically decrease movement. It also comes with easy-to-install no-drill clamp-on brackets that attach 24" - 27" from the coupler. It also accommodates tall trailer frames up to 6 inches in height. This system also comes with an adjustable shank that works perfectly with the distribution system. In order to make installation more of a breeze, I recommend using the thin-walled socket # EQ70-00-4800.

If you are in-between choosing the Fastway e2 Weight Distribution w/ 2-Point Sway Control # FA94-00-1000 (round bar) or the # FA92-00-1000 (trunnion bar), the main benefits that you receive from the trunnion-style has better ground clearance and an easier attachment of the of the bars into the head. If these factors are important to you, then I recommend going with the trunnion style # FA92-00-1000. Also, if you are planning to load your trailer heavier toward the 1,000 pound tongue weight range I calculated for you, I recommend going with trunnion style as well for a bit more support. If you are traveling lighter toward the 750 pound end, you will be completely fine with the round bar # FA94-00-1000.
