From the sound of your description, you have a Timbren Axle-Less 4" Lift - Spindle With Flange - Off-Road Tires 2.2K model # ASR1THDS03.
If you have this model and are using a 5 on 5 pattern hub and drum assembly like the # AKHD-550-35-EZ-K, you definitely can use 10" brakes. For those brakes, I recommend using the # AKEBRK-35-SA. These brakes are self-adjusting, so you do not need to worry about the painstaking process of adjusting your brakes as the shoes experience normal wear/tear.
