Question:
Hello, I have a Dexter axle i think 8k lb P-12 SLR, S/N D5854955. It is a 94 model made goose trailer its a goose neck type. I want to redo the axles. I would like to know what bearings outer/inner and seals i need somebody had already converted it from oil bath to grease. I want to keep it as grease. Next i want to put electric brakes on one axle. It was made with the air brake system on both axles. It no longer works so i want to use electric brakes on one axle. What brakes would i need? Will they work with the drums that are on the trailer? Anything else i need to know to upgrade and service the axles? Thanks

I was unable to find a reference to that axle, but there is a simple way to find out the exact replacement bearings and seals you need. Simply take apart your hub assembly and look at the bearings themselves; wipe away the grease and you should be able to see the part number stamped directly on them.
If you are unable to find them, you need to use digital caliper and measure your spindle to the thousandths of an inch where the bearings ride, as well as where the grease seal rides. You can use the photo I've attached to see exactly where you need to measure.
I have added a link to our entire selection of bearings and seals for you to come back to, and you can filter out the exact parts you need by the inner and outer diameters.
Then for brakes, to determine the brake assemblies that will fit your trailer, you need to know your axle's weight capacity, your mounting flange bolt pattern and the inside diameter and depth of your drum. For example, the Dexter Electric Trailer Brake Kit # 23-434-435 measure 12-1/4" diameter x 3-3/8" wide so that's the drum size they fit, are for 8,000 lb axles, and require a 4-bolt mounting flange.
I have added a link to our entire selection of electric brakes for you to come back to as well, or if you let me know all the specified info I can try and find the parts for you.
