I am looking for a boat trailer hitch Im told with brakes for are 2020 Subaru Ascent. what should I look for and what would help? Thank you for your help.

For towing a boat trailer with your 2020 Subaru Ascent the etrailer hitch part # e55ZR would be a great option. It has plenty of capacity and also is hidden behind the rear bumper panel of the vehicle when not in use.
Then for trailer wiring the best option is the # 118290 since you said your trailer has brakes. This will give you a 7-way and wiring needed to install a brake controller like the Brake EVN # TK63VR with the install harness # 3062-P.
