Looking for a replacement for a Sears 20 Carrier lock 2820. The whole mechanism needs replaced with a new key

The Sears cargo carriers are technically a Thule product. We do not carry the 2820 replacement Lock Cores, even though we do have replacement keys for them which is the Replacement Key for Thule Racks and Carriers # THKEYN2820.
However, since the whole mechanism needs to be replaced you might be able to use the Replacement Lock Core and Key # SR03807 to replace the locking mechanism. But, this will not match the 2820 lock core. You'll want to make sure the locks look the same to ensure this will work.
