I can see how it protects front of car, but what prevents a rock going over top and hitting windshield

The purpose of the Roadmaster Guardian Rock Guard, # RM-4000, is to not only protect the finish and front fascia of your vehicle from rocks and other road debris, but also to keep rocks and gravel from ricocheting off of the vehicle and hitting the windshield or motorhome.
To protect the windshield from rocks and debris that may make its way over the Guardian, I recommend checking out the Roadmaster Tow Defender, # RM-4700. The Tow Defender stretches from the receiver to the tow vehicle deflecting any rocks or road debris downward. The Tow Defender was designed to work with all Roadmaster tow bars that use the Quick-Disconnect system.
