How Much Clearance Do I Need Between My Tire and Fender?

Question:

So I purchased these and with no weight on the axles whatsoever I have 4 inches of clearance between my tire cover and my tires. When the trailer weight is added to the axles then I only have one inch of clearance between the tire cover and the tire. How much further can the tire go up? I need to know in order to know how high if any I need to raise the wheel cover. Thank you

You are going to want a minimum of three inches of clearance between the top of the wheel and the bottom of the fender when fully loaded. I have attached a diagram that shows the deflection of the Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension System w Electric Brake Hubs - Straight Spindle - 3,500 lbs item # A35RS545E you referenced purchasing. This system will travel up to 1-3/4" before the AEON progressive-rate main spring makes contact. Once this spring makes contact it will not travel anymore. You will essentially bottom out and your trailer will bounce. If you are already experiencing two inches of travel then you may have your trailer overloaded or have purchased a system that isn't rated high enough for your trailer.
