Your 2021 Mazda CX-5 is compatible with a Class II and a Class III Curt trailer hitch. Besides the difference in size, 1-1/4" and 2" respectively, they have different maximum weight limits.

The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2", part # C13315 has a maximum tongue weight of 600 lbs and a maximum gross trailer weight of 4,000 lbs.

You will have to check your towing capacity of your vehicle in the owner's manual. You will adhere to the lowest maximum weights between your vehicle and the trailer hitch on your vehicle. If I have to make a trailer hitch recommendation, I will choose the Class III option. You will be able to carry more accessories since 2" is the more common trailer hitch size.

The last thing you should consider is adding a 4-way connector to your vehicle. Any trailer that has brakes will have a 4-way harness so your trailer can mirror the brake lights, turn signals, and running lights of your tow vehicle.
