Question:
Based on the reviews/features, I am thinking of buying the Sportrack 3 bike carrier along with the Curt 2inch Hitch C13130, to carry my Trek Hybrid bikes, mostly for short distances of up to 20 miles, and occasional trips of 50-100 miles. Two questions: - Do I need to buy an adapter for the womens bike which doesnt have a cross bar? - Is there a more suitable rack you would recommend for this purpose?

The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver, part # C13130, is a fit for your Acura RDX. The hitch has a 2 inch by 2 inch receiver opening and has a tongue capacity of 600 lbs. Please note that this hitch has a gross trailer weight maximum of 4000 lbs and and a tongue weight capacity of 600 lbs. This hitch is not designed to be used with a weight distribution system.
The SportRack 3 Bike Carrier, part # SR2403 measures 12-1/4 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to the back of the upright pole, so clearance for your Acura should be no issue. This rack features soft, anti-sway cradles so the bikes finish is not damaged, and tilts away from the back of your vehicle so that you have access to the vehicle rear cargo area without having to remove the rack. I have linked you to an installation video for this bike carrier.
If the Trek Hybrid bikes you mentioned, or any bikes you are plan to carry have alternative crossbars, or you plan on carrying womens bikes, I recommend the Swagman Easy-Out Bike Adapter, part # 64005. This adapter bar will support bikes up to 35 lbs and adjusts from 16 inches to 29-1/2 inches, and features a push button to open the clips. This will allow the bike to be more level on the carrier.
Curt recommends that all non-trailer loads - bike racks, cargo carriers and so forth - should be supported with stabilizing straps. Not using a stabilizing strap could void your hitch warranty from Curt. The stabilizing straps I recommend is part # 18050. I have linked you to the installation video for the stabilizer straps.
