For towing with your 2022 Subaru Outback, a great hitch is the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - 2" # DT73RR. Not only does this hitch offer the greatest available weight capacity we currently carry for your vehicle, it also comes with an easier installation. All of our other hitches require you to remove the impact beam from the bumper. By avoiding this, the installation of the # DT73RR does not take as much effort.
As far as the ball mount, it really depends on your needed ground clearance. However, for a great hitch that doesn't have a huge rise/drop, I recommend the Draw-Tite Ball Mount w/ 2" Ball for 2" Hitches - 3/4" Rise, 2" Drop # DT49MR. If you happen to need more rise/drop to level out the trailer, I went ahead and attached our available hitches to this answer.
To complete the setup, I also recommend a wiring harness like the T-One 4-Way Harness # 118467. This harness will provide your trailer with basic brake light, turn signal, and running light functions.
As with all hitch/towing applications, I recommend consulting with your vehicle's owner's manual to make sure you are abiding by all manufacturer guidelines.
