Troubleshooting Slack in Performance for Demco Hijacker Autoslide

Question:

I have 18k Demco high jacker hitch. I have had no issues until now. I have the familiar clunk when turning. Now I am experiencing slack in the ion boss. Quite noticible in a start stop circumstance. Is there adj. for this or is it worn parts

If you have been upkeeping with the care and maintenance on your 18K Demco Hijacker Autoslide # DM8550034 it sounds like you might need to mess with the gear adjustment bolt located on the cab-end of the Hijacker.

To do this you need to place the hitch in a parallel position with the truck and then use a 1-1/8" wrench to loosen the nut and then tighten it until it stops against the gear. Then simply back the bolt off 1/8 turn and retighten the jam nut to keep everything secure. I'm attaching a clip from the instructions for you to reference.
