You will not have any issues with removing the support crossmember on your 2016 Ford Mustang Convertible to install the Draw-Tite Sportframe Trailer Hitch Receiver # 24928. The crossmember is detailed in the instructions I linked below and has 14-10mm bolt holding it in place. At this time we only have a video of installation on a coupe.
Draw-Tite recommends using their Drawbar # 3594 in the rise position only with their receiver. A 2" Hitch Ball # 19258 or 1-7/8" Hitch Ball # 19256 will also be required based on your trailer coupler.
A Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118487 will give you a 4-way flat connector that most small trailers will need to operate the tail lights. This will also allow you to use Auxiliary lights # C53201 if you are using a hitch mounted accessory like a bike rack that will impair the view of your tail lights on your Mustang. The Mounting Brackets # 18140 and # 18144 will allow you to secure the 4-way connector to your receiver if you would rather run it outside of the trunk.
