Choosing the Right Ball Mount for 2 Different Trailers and a 2013 Dodge Ram 2500 w/2-1/2 Inch Hitch
Updated 07/29/2013 | Published 07/25/2013 >
Question:
I just purchased a 2013 RAM 2500 4X4, was driving an 08 Ram 1500. I pull a steel 2 horse slant trailer and 2 jet skis. I know I will need new ball mounts for each. Im not sold on the adjustable, too afraid!!! What might you suggest for each trailer?? Also my receiver is 2.5. Should I purchase that size ball mount OR use an adaptor to reduce it to 2?

First, I would use a 2-1/2 inch ball mount for the 2-1/2 inch hitch on your 2013 Dodge Ram 2500. Going with the matching size will fit better than using a reducer sleeve.
Normally I would say an adjustable ball mount is the way to go except you have reservations about them. If you change your mind I have included a link to the adjustable ball mounts that fit a 2-1/2 inch receiver.
For fixed ball mounts you will need to do some measuring to determine the correct rise or drop you will need for each trailer. I have included a link to our FAQ article that explains how you will need to measure to select the correct ball mounts. I have also included a link to the 2-1/2 inch fixed ball mounts for you.
