Question:
I need a hitch for this 2022 Jeep Compass so I can tow things. Will I have to cut or drill anything when I install this hitch?

Yes, when installing the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C13363 the heat shield and fascia will both need to be trimmed. No drilling is required, this has a bolt-on installation.
Since you will be towing, you probably want a 4-way connection to power your trailer's signal lights. For the most reliable wiring I recommend the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness # C56369. This T-Connector plugs into existing wiring, so no cutting or splicing is required.
If you need a ball mount, I recommend the etrailer Ball Mount Kit # 989900. This kit comes with a 1-7/8" and 2" ball as well as a ball mount bag for storage.
I have attached some review and installation videos for your reference.
