Recommended Rear Helper Spring Option to Eliminate Suspension Sag of 2022 Ford F-150

Published 12/08/2021

Question:

My trailer that I tow with my 2022 Ford F150 has a 1500 lb tongue weight, which I confirmed at a CAT scale. What suspension enhancement is recommended?

I'd be happy to assist with that.

Back when most folks didn't use pickup trucks as daily drivers, trucks had stiffer rear suspensions. As trucks began selling better, more folks used them as a passenger vehicle, rather than the workhorse they were originally intended as. People then found that trucks ride like buckboards, and consumers complained.

The vehicle manufacturers have replied to consumer complaints of poor ride quality by making the rear suspensions of their half ton trucks more car like. That's all fine and good, until you want to tow a heavier trailer or haul heavy items in the truck bed which is why they're so many suspension enhancement products available.

Of the various options available, I really like the RoadActive Suspension which we offer as part # RAS3611-B for 2WD or # RAS3611-Y for 4WD trucks. Either kit offers 2000 lbs of additional support to level your ride when the rear suspension is under load, so it will be perfect for the tongue weight of your trailer. It will also eliminate axle wrap, wheel hop and prevent the suspension from bottoming out. The system also reduces sway and body roll during cornering.

The kit is maintenance free, you won't need to worry about leaks like what can be experienced with air helper spring systems such as the # AL47PD AirLift Load Lifter kit you'd looked at.

I've linked to some product videos that you might find helpful.
