Features to know about

Keep Your Truck Level Under Heavy Loads: 3,000-lb Leaf Spring Support

When you hook up a heavy trailer or load down the bed, stock springs can flatten out and leave your rear end sagging. This kit adds up to 3,000 lbs of support by converting the factory leaf springs into a mechanically active suspension system. The variable-rated coil tension springs automatically adjust to weight changes, keeping the truck level and steady under load. You’ll see less squat, better braking traction, and a more balanced ride when towing or hauling.

Truck showing leveled stance after installation of RoadActive Suspension kit, demonstrating how the system prevents rear sag and maintains even ride height when towing or hauling.

Smooth Ride Whether Loaded or Empty: Variable-Rated Coil Tension Springs

Some suspension upgrades feel great with a load but harsh when unloaded. These coil tension springs automatically engage when weight is added and disengage when empty, so you get stability without stiffness. They react instantly to changing loads, which means no waiting for air pressure to build or hydraulics to catch up. The result is consistent control and comfort on every drive—loaded or not.

Close-up view of RoadActive Suspension variable-rated coil tension spring showing heavy-duty steel construction and mounting configuration for improved load support.

Stop Wheel Hop and Axle Wrap Before They Start: Mechanically Active Design

Heavy torque or sudden stops can twist leaf springs and cause wheel hop. This setup stabilizes the springs by absorbing that force before it turns into bounce or axle wrap. With the leaf pack held in its proper bowed position, traction improves under acceleration and braking, and you avoid the jarring motion that beats up suspension parts over time.

RoadActive Suspension installed on rear axle showing stabilized leaf springs that prevent axle wrap and wheel hop for smoother traction and control.

Cut Down on Sway and Body Roll: Reinforced Leaf Spring Control

Cornering with a trailer or camper can make the back end lean hard. The reinforced design of this kit reduces sway and body roll so the truck feels planted through curves and crosswinds. It keeps your load centered and predictable during turns, lane changes, or when a semi blows by on the highway.

Built Strong and Ready for Real Use: Durable, Maintenance-Free Construction

Each unit is made from epoxy e-coated alloy steel with corrosion-resistant brackets rated for more than 800 hours of salt spray. Once bolted in place—no drilling, cutting, or welding required—the system needs no upkeep or adjustments. You set it once during installation using the included spacers for tension tuning, and it’s ready to handle years of towing and hauling without extra maintenance.

Easy install and made a huge difference made pulling nite and day difference

by:

This is the best $ spent on any truck you’re using for towing or hauling. I’ve spent countless hours messing with airbags, helper springs. This beats them all, never makes a sound, improves daily driving, lifts the rear about 1” and levels the truck with towing. This is my third purchase of these!

by:

Liked this product so much on my 2017 F150, Got a set of Roadmasters for my new to me 2021 F150.

by:

Great product, super easy install. got an xtra almost 2" in rear stance but im ok with that. Ive had timbrens for a while now and with the near 10k lb boat i pull(short distances) i need something to stop the bottoming out feeling of timbrens when im hooked up.

by:

Great product. Easy to install and adjust. I installed on my 2018 F150. I continually run with a heavy load. Cap, decked drawers and bed slide plus tools and fishing gear. Adding Active Suspension raised my rear up 2” and the front 3/4”. Rides better and looks better. I used 40mm spacing due to the load.

by:

I frequently towa26’ travel trailer. The tongue weight is quite heavy and my F-150 struggled to stay at a proper level even with a WD hitch. The RAS addition has taken care of my issue. The truck and trailer are now at the proper levels according to my hitch recommendations . The trailer has much less whip while in tow

by:

Working with etrailer was superb! The RAS system is exactly what my rig needed, it reduced sag and gave me more control when driving with my 2020 F150 4wd crew and 28’ Jayco 7500 # travel trailer! I would highly recommend the RAS system. Easy to install, love it!

by:

Wait what?!
Should’ve put these on first
thing when I got the truck. Raised the rear a little over an inch, unloaded ride improves, and now tows level! No messing with air hoses, or pumping them up, just install and Tighten! Reminds me of accumulators on hydraulic setups, brilliant idea
2018 F150, 6.5’ bed, 3.5L EcoBoost

by:

Ride is good but didn’t quite give me as much lift as I was hoping to get. After about 8 months I lifted axle off ground and readjusted again to installation specs with shim and it seemed to help load carrying capability.

by:

This was a huge improvement on my 2020 F150! Towing is a breeze now with these. I recommend them to everyone I know.

by:

Installed this evening on my 2019 F150 FX4 Crew Cab 5.5 ft bed. On level-ish ground before install the fender well was 39.5 inches from the ground (unloaded). Installed these and set the tension for a 2mm gap with the black spacer in the kit for a 40% increase..... This kit removed a little squat and the fender is now 40.25 inches from the ground (unloaded). Truck rides good unloaded, have not yet pulled the travel trailer with them installed. I will update the next time I tow something heavy that I've towed with this truck before installing these. To set the tension use a 9/16 wrench or socket. The bolt is actuall made for an allen wrench but roadmaster uses silicon to glue what apears to be part of an allen wrench into the bolt. I understand this makes it easier for us to install, but they should use something stronger than silicon as one of mine fell out as soon as I started turning it. See pictures.

I tow a 31 foot trailer with my 1/2 ton. Before adding this product the sway was still noticeable, especially with 30 to 40 km wind gust, even with a Curt 4 point sway control hitch. After adding this product I noticed significantly lower sway and better towing.

I don’t normally post about items I have purchased, but in this case, I had to make an exception. I did a lot of research on helper springs and ways to insure my truck gave me my maximum rating. We purchased this kit and it actually arrived a day early and best of all, the day before we were going to get our new 5th-wheel trailer. My son-in-law helped me install them in under an hour. Unfortunately, I did not measure my height before the install, but it did look like it raised the truck a small amount but that was fine with me. I didn’t notice any difference in the ride. The next day we picked up our new Reflection 150 - 278BH trailer. When we first connected the trailer, the maintenance manager commented “Wow, I really expected to see the back end of the truck drop more”. I told him I had installed this kit and he was very impressed. We had a cold front pushing through and had a 20-25 mph crosswind hitting our new rig as we drove home. Since I had not pulled this rig before, I was a little concerned about how the truck would handle. All-in-all, it handled great and the truck felt secure on the road. You could still feel the wind at times, but I did not feel like the truck swayed as much as I remembered our old truck and trailer. Overall, I am quite happy with this kit. My wife said she didn’t really notice any difference in the ride but she did say she thought our truck now looked a little jacked up without the trailer, but as I said, that’s fine with me.

by:

Much improvement with stability on the F150 pulling a 8000lb travel trailer. I would recommend these to everyone pulling a travel trailer with a 1/2 ton

by:

Great product. Installed on my 2018 F150. Really a simple and quick install. Followed the etrailer video. Thanks for providing the video. The instruction sheet provided by RAS is not as thorough as the video.
The install took less than an hour.
Highly recommend this product.

by:

etrailer asked if I would review the roadmaster active suspension kit after a year. Ok, I get a lot of junk email but this impressed me. This shows that they are a stand up company.
I purchased this product to help with the sag I was getting at the hitch.
I read a lot of articles and literature about the sagging issues and almost went with an air system as they are described as the end all be all fix. WRONG!
I installed this RAS on my 2018 F150 and the sag was gone. It has never returned. The trailer rides true behind my truck and my truck rides great when I’m not hooked up.
I have max towing capability with my truck from the factory but I pull a 10,000 lb trailer. Lot of concrete grinding equipment, big vacs, generator and I haven’t had any issues at all.
The Roadmaster active suspension works just as advertised. I’m very happy with the purchase and I’ll do it again on my next truck.

by:

Roadmaster active suspension seems to be built very well. I look forward to towing my travel trailer very soon to see if it improves the towing experience.

It has been a year now since I installed the Roadmaster Active Suspension system on my 2018 F150. We pull a 30 ft travel trailer from Wisconsin to Alabama.Last year the roads became very slippery when we encountered a rain snow mix. The truck and trailer tracked perfectly. I just hooked up the rig yesterday to take the same trip, leaving tomorrow. The truck definitely handles better with the RAS. Im glad I installed it and am sure it will last for years.

I am a competitive shooter and take my camper to all my shoots. I have a cap on my truck and the decked drawer system. I also carry 400 lbs of ammo at any given time. When pulling my camper on the highway or over bumps and railroad tracks it was kinda scary. This system stopped the squat and removed the sag at acceleration. I installed sumo springs as well (without spacer) for added sway control when loaded down with trailer. The RAS was great right from the start. It reminded me of the 80’s then we would put traction bars on old hot rods to stop rear squat on acceleration. Same kind of feel with my truck. Some much nicer. With the trailer it removed 1.5 inches of squat on the rear and got my front and back within 1” of variance and before install it was around 2.5 to 3. Took only fifteen minutes per side to install once the tires were off. Great product….

Wow, that is awesome to hear a product really deliver on what its made to do! Youre a competetive shooter? Thats so cool. I could never do that - Im such a bad shot I wouldnt hit water even if I fell out of a boat. Do you travel across the country or do you stay more local?

The Road Active Suspension is The solution .
2015 F150 EB Max Tow pulling a Lance 1685..
Truck pulls TT with no effort..but was looking for better handling options.
Have many miles without RAS vs Quite a few now with RAS.
The driving and handling is a very welcome improvement… from high mountain passes and roadways to Interstates.. wind… rain … etc
Was contemplating a 3/4 ton… not now.
Easy install.. you won’t be disappointed

Easy Install and everything was in the box. These raised the rear of my truck 1 1/4” and give a stable ride.

Great, these springs gave my truck stability and the ideal ride height I needed to pull my trailer with minimum sway. I would definitely purchase these again.

by:

Install went smooth, did this myself. Gave my F150 the extra support to be able to tow my half ton rated fifth wheel with the truck sitting level. The unloaded ride is still just like it was prior to install. I used the thin white spacer to set the spring tension.

by:

Installed this today on my 2023 Ford F150 Lariat 4x4 with the tow package. The kit arrived within 2 days of ordering. The box was slightly open but the springs appeared undamaged. I elected to do the install myself and opted to get a 4 ton floor jack to replace my very old 3 ton. I’m very glad I did. After blocking the front tires and setting the parking brake, I loosened the wheels and raised the rear at the differential using a small 2x4 block to span the contact points. I took the wheels off and originally set my jack stands in front of the leaf spring on the frame. Lowering the truck onto the stands was not effective. There wasn’t enough travel to provide relief to the springs. I ended up setting my jack stands on some 1x16 scrap pieces and put them under the spring attachment point. This gave me just enough room on my floor jack to unburden the springs. Once I got over this small hurdle the install went smoothly. This took about an hour to very carefully construct as I didn’t want to drop my brand new truck on the ground. Brand new 5 ton jack stands would have eased my mind considerably. My install includes a spacer for the bump stop to offset it towards the centerline of the vehicle. The instructions weren’t intuitive and it took a few minutes to figure out the bolts. You need to insert the provided bolt into the spacer and attach the spacer to the frame with the original bump stop bolt. It’s the only one you can get a socket on in the depression. The bump stop then attaches to the provided bolt you inserted into the spacer using the provided nut. You will need a deep well 15mm socket for this attachment. Fortunately I had one. I set the spring using the 25% white spacer, reinstalled the wheels and set the truck back on the deck. The truck now sits 3/4” higher in the rear. I drove around and noticed that I was sitting a little higher as the site picture changed a bit. The truck didn’t seem to ride differently empty. If anything it seemed a little more cushioned though no less responsive. I towed my 9000lb travel trailer previously with a Ram 2500 6.7l diesel that had Sumo springs and a WD hitch. I got tired of the cost and maintenance and selected this Ford because it could haul the trailer. I chose the RAS over the Sumo springs because of how much squat I observed when I hooked up the trailer initially. I will update after I tow the trailer. My only concern at the moment is that the bump stop spacer isn’t going to provide enough clearance from the bracket.

Been a year now and I’ve pulled my 9200lb arctic fox trailer from Illinois to Halifax NS and back. The tongue weight was 870lb and the payload weight of the truck was maxed out from the Ford towing program and the CAT scale. The weight distribution hitch and this allowed for a very smooth ride even in the rain. The only issue was when the crosswinds were more than 10mph. The winds coming home out of Canada were 30mph and that was anxiety inducing especially coming across the mountains. Without the RAS I wouldn’t have even tried it. This was necessary to level the truck and have it track. I bought the trailer TPMS also because a blowout at that weight leaves no margin for error. Get the RAS for your light duty truck but don’t ignor your max weights. The rear axle weight was the limiting factor without the RAS and the WDH. The only drawback is the Ford headlight leveling sensor on the rear drivers side axle sits awfully close to the clearance of the shock and careful positioning is called for.

by:

This is my second F150 with an RAS installed. With RAS, my 2023 F150 2.7 Supercrew (with HD payload package, rated to tow 10,100#) tows my 6000# Airstream completely level with no squat and no issue when paired with a WD hitch. And yes, I've done the same tow without RAS and would prefer not to do it again. Absolutely an improvement over stock with minimal impact to daily driving. It does raise the rear about 1-2" but nothing the average person notices and I forget about it all the time. I'd like a leveling kit to help raise the front/reduce the rake a bit but then it wouldn't tow level anymore so that's the compromise. The RAS does exactly what it claims to do, at a fair price, and maintenance free (no airing up or down etc.) The only improvement that would be better would be trading up to a 2500 or 3500 but that's not the daily driver experience I want for the 80% of the time I'm not towing. I did buy again when I traded in my 2017 and would buy yet again if I got another half-ton.

Really glad to hear that, James! The RAS is really good at its job for sure! Thanks for sharing the photo of your set up - the Airstream and truck are looking mighty fine! When's the next camping trip?

Purchased for a 2018 F150 to assist with towing a 6000lb RV travel trailer. The heavy duty model is too heavy duty. With the pre-loading as light as possible, the unloaded ride is stiff. Would recommend the standard model. With the travel trailer (using an Equalizer brand weight distribution hitch), the ride and stability was much improved over just the factory leaf springs. The rear of the truck was raised over an inch. Installation was straight forward. A little bit of guessing as to the pre-tensioning and if they are matched left and right. Would love it if the design could be changed such that it was easy to "snap on" when needed and "snap off" when unloaded. Maybe some sort of lever system would make this possible. Overall, they did what they are designed to do - assist the truck in being more stable when under load and less squat. I ended up trading the Ford for a Toyota which has coil springs so I passed on the RAS to the new owner of the Ford.

1-year comments - As mentioned, traded the F-150 for a Tundra. RAS did make a noticeable difference in handling of the travel trailer and body roll of the truck even when not towing. I can only guess but would recommend going with standard model over HD as ride was stiff with light load in the truck and not towing. Upgrading the suspension on the travel trailer made the most difference in overall stability. New slightly higher rated leaf springs, Morryde equalizer, and wet bolts, combined to greatly lessen the body roll of the trailer which led to a much more stable drive especially with side wind loads. RAS is nice and worked to give the F150 more strength for when towing or when more heavily loaded. So still give it 4 stars.

@Richard Upgrading your trailer suspension is the ideal way to reduce body roll of the trailer and get a better towing experience! The MORryde CRE3000 or AllTrek 4000 are my go-tos for any suspension upgrade. Thank you so much for the update and happy towing!

I bought these after a 1000+ mile trip towing my trailer (~8000# loaded) with my 2013 F-150 (HD Payload & Max Towing Package). Installation was super easy. I did not need to take the tires off. There was plenty of room to get behind the tires and place and adjust the springs. Once installed they definitely give the truck a rake. I didn't measure pre-installation because I didn't expect the lift to be so great. I used the black disc to adjust the springs.
It's not too extreme but you can definitely see a difference compared to stock.
As you can see in the pictures, with the springs the drop with a trailer attached is greatly reduced and the truck sits level. Towing was great. I used a WDH before and being able to with springs only and a sway bar is pretty nice. Drop with trailer attached is only about 2.5 inches (see pics)

I still think these springs are one of the best aftermarket purchases Ive made for this truck. Obviously, different trucks will give different results, but for me not having to hassle with a WDH I just use a sway bar makes all the difference. Before the springs, I would towwith a WDH and sway bar and constantly felt the trailer behind me or felt I was floating in the front end. These springs have *almost* completely eliminated that. Amazing difference.

  • Reducing sag on a 2023 Ford F-150 XLT 4x4 Hauling a 5,500 lb Travel Trailer
Hey Gregory, that's really good information. You’ve got a few options, but I wouldn’t jump straight to replacing the leaf springs on a half-ton for that size trailer. Since you’re using a Curt weight distribution hitch, that should be doing most of the work. The first thing I’d look at is the hitch setup, making sure the spring bars are tensioned correctly and the truck is sitting close to level after everything is hooked up. If that doesn't correct the sag, that’s when a suspension upgrade...

  • How do I Pick the Right RoadActive Suspension Enhancement Kit for my 2018 Ford F-150
We can get this figured out! The weight capacities stated in the description is the amount of weight that these springs will support. These will not add capacity to your payload or the amount you carry but instead take some of the force off of your factory suspension decreasing wear and tear on the system helping it to last longer. In my experience it also helps the handling characteristics of the vehicle by reducing the body roll of the truck. The RoadActive Suspension Custom Leaf...

The extra capacity of this kit over the non-HD basically doesn't have any downside aside from costing a little more so it's the way to go to get a little more headroom in terms of suspension support you could have available. The # TFRTT1504E is the severe service kit, designed for constant loads like salt spreaders or slide-in campers. If you really want to use the Timbren the # TFR1504E would be the correct kit. Do you know the pin weight of your trailer? If it is on the lower end the SumoSprings Solo # SS28UV would work with a capacity of 1,500...

  • Suspension Enhancement for 2022 Ford F-150
Hi John; I would go the suspension enhancement route to reduce the sag on your 2022 Ford F-150. Out of all of the options you referenced I would personally choose the # AL82WQ. Air bags have the most adjustability so you can get them just right with your towing setup. They also can be run at the minimum psi so they have no impact on your unloaded ride quality. However, the adjustability can also be a downside if you don't want to mess with it. The easiest way to adjust the air bags is...

  • What is Best Suspension Enhancement Solution for 2024 Ford F-150 Towing Camper Trailer
Hey Keith, yes the Roadactive System part # RAS3611-YHD that you referenced is exactly what you are looking for. It gives you everything you are lookin for and requires no maintenance and there's no risk of air leaks etc. Unlike other options this is only solution that will improve loaded and unloaded ride quality as well as improve loaded an unloaded handling. I can't say exactly how much sag you'd still experience but it is adjustable so you can decide basically how much of that you'd...

  • Can The RAS And SumoSprings Be Installed At The Same Time?
Yes you can use the RoadActive Suspension Custom Leaf Spring Enhancement Kit # RAS3611-YHD in conjunction with your SumoSprings, however the two may counter each other, so it is recommended to use the lowest setting on the RAS to correct this. Additionally, you can also use either suspension enhancements with your Andersen No Sway WDH. I have also included an installation video on a 2018 Ford F-150 for you to check out as well.

  • Will The RoadActive Suspension(RAS) Work With Timbren Jounce Springs on a 2018 Ford F-150?
I do recommend removing your Timbren Rear Suspension Enhancement System # TFR1504E before you install either the 2,000LB # RAS3611-Y or 3,000LB # RAS3611-YHD RoadActive Suspension. The RAS mounts outside your u-bolts which is where the Timbren spring comes down to contact the axle. While there may be a small gap currently your rear end can float a bit side to side which may cause the jounce springs to contact the mounting arms which could damage both units. I personally feel the RAS is...

  • What is the Difference Between the RoadActive RAS3611-YHD and RAS3611-Y
The difference between the # RAS3611-YHD and the # RAS3611-Y is that the RAS3611-YHD is a heavy duty suspension enhancement designed to provide up to 3000-lbs of leveling and support; the RAS3611-Y is only designed to provide up to 2000-lbs of support. We do recommend the # RAS3611-YHD for trucks carrying heavy loads frequently or those towing heavy 5th wheels and trailers. These kits are easy to install and require no drilling, just attaching some bolts. I've linked a review video we...

  • Best Rear Suspension Enhancement For 2017 Ford F-150 to Help Sag When Towing
The TorkLift StableLoad Suspension Upgrade # TLA7310S that fits your 2017 Ford F-150 is more of an upgrade for ride quality, and wouldn't do a great deal to help with sag. There is an option that will help tremendously with sag, however, which is a kit from RoadActive Suspension; the correct option will depend on if you have 2WD or 4WD, and how much squat you are experiencing. 4-Wheel Drive - Max of 2 to 3 Inches of Squat: RoadActive Suspension Custom Leaf Spring Enhancement Kit # RAS3611-Y -...

  • Is RoadActive Suspension System Compatible Wtih 2021 Ford F-150 With Auto-Leveling Headlights
I spoke with the folks at RoadActive Suspension and was told that because the RAS system sits within the footprint of the leaf springs, it will not interfere with the sensors for the Auto Headlight feature, but you will need to move the adjustable cross-bolt from its spot at the end of the bracket to the second to last holes as shown in provided photo. We offer 3 different RoadActive Suspension Kits for the 2021 Ford F-150. I'll list the fits below: • Part # RAS3611-YHD for 3000 lbs of...

  • Best Suspension Enhancement for 2023 Ford F-150
The best suspension enhancement solution for your 2023 Ford F-150 Tremor is the Roadactive kit part # RAS3611-YHD actually. I know it's not one of the options you mentioned but for what you will be doing with your truck it would give you the best overall support. It's basically the best of both words between air bags and rubber spring kits but it actually improves ride quality and stability whereas the other options make the ride quality pretty harsh. The install is easier and the adjustments...
