Can I Size Up On My Tire Size For My Utility Trailer

I currently have 18x8.5x8 wheels and tires on a utility trailer I would like to install larger diameter wheels and tires is there a size that would be a couple inches larger?

This may be possible, but there are some things you need to be aware of before you continue. First, the load range of your tire should at least match the load range of your existing tires. Next, you need to have enough room for a bigger tire. The new tire and wheel combination will be taller and wider. You will need to make sure you have enough roof for the bigger tire. You will need to account for the change in tire and wheel size AND the travel of your suspension with the new tire and wheel combination. For example, if you did have enough roof to go up in tire size, you could go with a 205/65-10 tire like the Kenda 205/65-10 Bias Trailer Tire with 10" White Wheel - 5 on 4-1/2 - Load Range D, part # AM3H430. It is just over 2" wider in diameter. Keep in mind that determining if there is enough room for a larger sized tire to fit is just part of what you need to do.
We will also need to know the bolt pattern. I have attached an article on how to determine that below. Increasing the size of the tire and wheel combination will also affect the height of your trailer. As a result, you might need to adjust the rise of your ball mount. Please keep in mind that increasing the size of the tire does not change the load capacity of your axle.
