So there are a number of different parts you will need in order to flat tow your 2021 Chevy Colorado Z71 with 4-wheel drive, and I recommend going with Roadmaster parts as they are well-known for their high quality flat towing parts. I'll make a list for you of the best options:
- Base Plate Kit: Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit # RM37VR
- Tow Bar: Roadmaster BlackHawk 2 All Terrain, Non-Binding Tow Bar # RM-422
- Safety Chains: RoadMaster 64" Double Hook, Straight Safety Cables # RM-646
- Wiring Kit: Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267
- Roadmaster Automatic Battery Disconnect # RM-766 (Note: Cannot be used on Diesel or Dual-Battery models)
- Supplemental Braking System: Demco SBS Stay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Braking System # DM86VR
The Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plates are really nice because they have removable tabs which means your Colorado is going to keep its aesthetic when you aren't flat towing. The BlackHawk tow bar is a great option because it has the necessary weight capacity for the heavier '21 Colorado Z71, and has exceptionally long arms, which make it much easier to maneuver when towing compared to other tow bars.
The Flexo-Coil wiring kit is designed to prevent any type of electrical feedback to keep your Chevy's electrical system safe, and since your battery has to be disconnected, the Battery Disconnect Switch will make it much easier (and safer) to do so when you are towing. As for the Stay-IN-Play DUO braking system, this is by far the best option because it gives you braking that is proportional to that of your motorhome, so when you hit your motorhome's brakes, your Colorado will brake with the same intensity (or lack thereof). This results in much smoother braking than most systems which send out a pre-set amount of braking power and are more rigid.
