Question:
I have a custom built trailer that ive already out fitted with lights, but due to its size i would like to put separate turn/brake lights on it without them being combined. Can i attach this onto my trailer and wire it into the existing wiring to get those separate signals?

The Curt # C56196 2 to 3 wire taillight converter is exactly what you'll need to split out the turn signal function from the brake lamp circuit. However, keep in mind that the # C56196 is NOT compatible with LED lamps, unfortunately we don't offer a taillight converter at this time that is compatible with LED lamps.
You would wire the converter inline with the right and left turn and brake circuits. You will want to install the converter some place where it's protected from the elements. If the design of the trailer makes that difficult or impossible, then you can use a junction box like # 3375601100 to protect the converter.
I've linked to the installation instructions for you.
