Can You Adjust the Brackets on the Malone EcoLight Sport Trailer to Decrease Crossbar Spread?

Question:
The most common spread front to back of a roof rack carrier is 24inch for the clamps. Are these rail adjustable to accommodate the 24inch needed to duplicate a roof rack carrier style mount? I would live to move my current carrier from atop my SUV to a trailer that would be so much easier to access. If this is doable, mine will be ordered shortly after your response.

I confirmed with my contact at Malone that the with the EcoLight Sport Trailer # MAL53FR, you will be able to adjust the front u-bolt bracket on the crossbars by about 10 inches maximum (which would only be a 28-1/2 inch spread). However, my contact did confirm that they do not know that exact distance. Unfortunately, even at this approximation, it is not the 24-inch spread you need for your carrier.
If you want a sure bet, I recommend the Yakima Rack and Roll Trailer - 66" # Y08106. The crossbar spread on the Rack and Roll is adjustable to get the 24-inch spread you need. It also comes with a 250-pound weight capacity and a locking lever that locks the trailer tongue to the ball mount.
If you are looking for more economical option for the 24-inch spread you need, I recommend the Malone 2 Tier LowBed MicroSport Trailer # MPG464-LBT. The top crossbar set on the 2 Tier Lowbed are completely adjustable. Also, the Malone 2 Tier LowBed comes with an impressive weight capacity of 800 pounds.
With all of these options, you will need a 2-inch ball mount and a pin/clip. The Curt Towing Starter Kit # C45534 comes with all of these accessories. In addition, you will need a wiring harness for your vehicle and a hitch receiver. For those two accessories, I would be happy to get you a vehicle-specific fit if you provide me with the year/make/model of your vehicle.
