Installing A 7-Way Trailer Wiring Harness On A 2018 Chevy Colorado.
Updated 08/22/2024 | Published 09/14/2021 >
Question:
I was trying to use your DIY video to install a 7 way wiring harness on my 2018 Chevy colorado. But I have a Delphi harness, not the one sold on etrailer. My harness has brown, yellow, white, black, green, blue, and purple. Can you tell me how to hook it up to my trucks wiring, which is brown, yellow, black, orange, green, Grey, and blue?

I found a wire coloring for your 2018 Chevy Colorado on a Chevrolet forum it should be wired as such. Yellow: Left stop/turn signal, Green: Right stop/turn signal, Brown: Tail lamps/parking lamps, Black: Ground, Grey: Back-up lamps, Orange: Battery, Blue: Trailer brake. Even with that info it's a good idea to use a circuit tester like part # PTW2993 to test each wire for function.
The trailer wiring code is probably Yellow: Left turn, Green: Right turn, Brown: Taillights, Black: Battery, White: Ground, Blue: Brakes, Purple: Backup lamps. Since we do not carry the harness you have, I can't say for sure, but this is the traditional wire coloring.
So, if all is correct you should connect: yellow to yellow, green to green, brown to brown, black to white, orange to black, blue to blue and purple to grey.
Make sure you test all connections to verify that the wires are connected and operating properly and all
lights are correctly illuminated.

I dont about Jim F the original questioner. But this was VERY helpful. I could not find a video anywhere Or written materials either. Followed the color matches you provided. And boom trailer hooked up and all lights working. Took me longer to text this message than to do the install! Lol Thanx for great info!
