Question:

I recently purchased a used Thule 990XT hitch 2-bike bike rack that comes with two lock cylinders but the original owner didnt have the key for the lock cylinders. I want to replace the original lock cylinders with the Thule one-key system lock cylinders. The one-key system comes with a master key. Can that master key change key allow removal of the original lock from its housing and allow me to replace with the one-key lock cylinder or would I need to purchase a Thule replacement key first. The current lock cylinders are unlocked at the moment. Thank you

Since your current cylinders are unlocked, you should be able to use the master key that comes with the Thule One-Key System Lock Cylinders # TH450200. That is really the only condition for the master key to allow for the removal of an existing Thule lock core.

If for some reason you find that they are locked, matching up the key number that is on the lock cylinder will allow you to find a replacement key so you can unlock the cylinder and use the master key to remove it.
